He graduated from Karadeniz Technical University with a double major in Economics and in Statistics and Computer Sciences. In 2005, Aykut Ekinci began working as a Research Assistant in the Department of Economics at the same university. In 2008, he started working as an Economist at the Development and Investment Bank of Türkiye. In 2014, he spent a year at George Mason University’s Department of Economics as a visiting researcher under the F. A. Hayek Research Fellowship, conducting postdoctoral studies. During his 10-year banking career, he worked in departments such as loans, risk monitoring, intelligence, and financial analysis. In 2018, he joined the Conjuncture Department of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye’s Strategy and Budget Directorate. In 2020, he became the founding chair of the Department of Economics and Finance at Samsun University, and he was awarded the title of Professor in 2023.

Since October 2023, Aykut Ekinci has been serving as the Deputy General Manager responsible for Financial Affairs at Emaa Sigorta and in November 2024, he was assigned as the General Manager of Emaa Sigorta
